Bedford Park Fire Department is the home of Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) Division 21 Haz-Mat Unit 702. This unit
responds as the primary Haz-Mat unit in the southwestern suburbs in addition to being part of the Statewide Response Plan.
Several chemical plants reside within our village boundaries which has driven the department to meet the emergency response
needs for the community we serve. Bedford Park is proud to state all on-shift personnel are required to be trained to the level of
Hazardous Material Technician “A”, giving us the most trained hazardous material technicians of any suburban department in the
state. We pride ourselves in knowledge, experience, training and history in the Hazardous Material Response field and strive to
remain a leader for Hazardous Materials Response in the community and fire service for years to come.
